about academics Students and instructors come to Explo because they’re excited about learning. Unlike typical middle school curricula, Exploration courses do not revolve around tests, homework, or formal evaluations. Instead, our courses are based on dynamic, hands-on activities and discussions. They provide an opportunity for you to develop and express your natural talents or explore new interests and skills in a pressure-free environment. Working closely with your instructors and fellow students, you will have a direct impact on how your class progresses and the direction your learning takes. courses Prior to the summer, choose from our list of more than 80 different courses ranging in subject matter from the arts and natural sciences to math and business. You will enroll in two courses per session. By the end of each session, all courses will create a final project, display, or performance. You will be amazed at what you will accomplish in just three weeks. mini-courses Mini-courses are designed as shortened versions of our three-week courses, and include additional athletic and academic options. They occur in the mornings and afternoons on Wednesday and are a great chance for you to “dip into” something you've never tried before. For example, if you are a science buff who has signed up for courses on biomedical ethics and spacecraft design, you could use your mini-courses to learn how to prepare sushi or write poetry.
