Faculty + Staff
EXPLO faculty + staff bring a spark to experiential learning
EXPLO faculty are professional teachers and practitioners who love engaging the middle school mind in their areas of expertise. They are scholars, entrepreneurs, artists, engineers, activists, lawyers, doctors, actors, and more from every industry and institutions from around the country—and world. EXPLO brings their talent and passion together.
They're not typical thirteen-year-olds! They’re asking, ‘What can I do, what can I learn that's going to set me apart?’ Or, ‘What is something that I can do for society?’ I think they're starting at this age because they don't see school as a burden. They see it as an opportunity to gain more knowledge.
We are EXPLO faculty + staff
Here are just a few examples of the types of people who have served as EXPLO faculty and staff over the years.
Faculty + staff highlights
Natasha Padilla-Goddard
“Representation matters. For students of color in particular, but also for white students. They read The Hate U Give, and were like, ‘Do you have more like this?’ You can still teach literary skills to students reading a book of their choosing...we need to fill our libraries with books they actually want to read”.
Dr. Andrew Eyre, EXPLO Faculty Member, Director for Medical Simulation at Brigham and Women’s STRATUS Center
"You could...see how much students benefited from the environment, especially if they didn't necessarily fit in at their schools. Being a part of an environment that fostered learning just for the fun and love of education, seeing kids experiment and try new avenues they hadn't experienced before — all of this just felt like a really exciting place to be."
Our favorite experiences

Medicine: First Aid + Clinical Skills
Students learn the kinds of injuries best treated by suturing, then break out the suture kits to practice some common stitching techniques.
