Robotics: Mars Exploration Workshop
Robotics: Mars Exploration
Step into our simulated NASA robotics lab and gear up for an epic mission to explore the uncharted surfaces of the Red Planet!
You’ve been hired to build an exploratory robot outfitted with tools to explore Mars. At the command center, your team will design and program your robot, equipping it to conquer new challenges. Find the most efficient way to collect soil samples and search for water, all while competing against rival engineering teams in the race to discover proof of Martian life. Simulate multiple missions before launching your robot for a final test of its capabilities. Rebuild and reprogram through each iteration to outsmart the competition and claim a victory for interplanetary science!
Note that this workshop uses block-based programming. Coding experience is not required.
What you'll do
Sensors + Samples
Create a robot that can navigate the rocky Mars terrain, while collecting soil samples along the way.
Block by Block
Learn to code quickly and easily in the LEGO programming system, a visual block programming environment built to translate your ideas into commands for your robot.
Design for Success
Test your code and your strategies early and often, adjusting plans and developing solutions when unknown variables or unexpected challenges crop up.
Team Up to Troubleshoot
Work with friends to adapt your robot for a successful mission, finding creative solutions as the clock runs down.
