Learning the basics of negotiation strategies is an essential component to being a good leader and manager, whether in the boardroom, classroom, or in student leadership positions. In this elective, you’ll learn what it takes to be a skillful, successful negotiator by exploring the fundamentals of argumentation, developing strategies to effectively advocate for what you need, and using psychological tricks that can subconsciously sway opinions. Assess the needs of stakeholders, prepare options, develop creative solutions, and identify loopholes and fallacies through discussions, simulations, scenarios, and role plays. Finally, navigate the challenges of facilitating a multiparty negotiation and learn important collaboration and advocacy skills that will help you navigate negotiations from the personal to professional with ease.
