Tuition + Financial Aid

Worshops + electives open a world of new experiences

What do you want to learn?

Business, Math + Economics

Ever wonder how to turn an idea into a successful business? Or how spies use secret codes to communicate? Or how winning card players balance probability with sheer luck? You’ll discover the answers, because you’ll get to try your hand at all of these things and more.

Engineering, Technology + Design

You could read a book to learn how hovercrafts work. Or you could, you know, build your own. Or learn how robots work by writing code to control them. Or use hand tools, 3D printers, sewing machines, and more to create something no one’s ever seen before. Here, you’ll gain the skills of a maker.

Law, Humanities + World Affairs

Just how do societies work? What laws, leaders, and forces shape nations? You can explore that here by building your own medieval kingdom, or joining a government simulation. Or, you can make up societies, people, and worlds by creating your own written or illustrated works of fiction.

Science, Psychology + Medicine

The only thing as fascinating as the world around us is the world inside us—and you can explore both here. From outer space to the inner workings of human and animal bodies, you’ll learn the same scientific tools and techniques used by doctors, researchers, and investigators.

Visual + Performing Arts

Creativity and self-expression can take many forms. Paint a stunning picture. Create music no one’s ever heard before. Act like a superstar on stage. Even cook food. It’s all art, and it’s all uniquely you.

Athletics, Hobbies + Recreation

All those summer camp favorites? Yeah, we have those too. From athletics like swimming, basketball, and tennis to playing (or even creating) games around a table, your mind and body will get a workout!

Make yourself at home for weeks of discovery + fun

Sleepaway program at-a-glance

EXPLO’s sleepaway program is much more than a summer program for middle schoolers. It’s:

  • Breakfast, electives, and activities like swimming, strategy games, and rocket building
  • Lunch, community meeting (for jokes, performances, or competitions), and workshops
  • Dinner, activities like capture the flag, a music jam session, or a home run derby, and an evening event like Carnival Night
  • Weekend adventures in Boston and around New England—more than 10 each weekend—including the Museum of Science, Canobie Lake Park, a Red Sox game, and more

Making the first time a success

The first time sleeping away from home and family can seem like a big step, because it is—it’s an important part of building independence and self-confidence. We’ve spent decades helping kids take that step in a safe and caring environment, meeting their needs while leaving room for them to surprise themselves with their own growth.

The ultimate day in and day out

Weekend trips. Live performances. Talent shows. Carnivals. Pool parties. Movie nights. EXPLO Ultimate Day students participate in all of the same fun activities together with residential students. As an Ultimate Day student, the only thing you won’t be doing at EXPLO is sleeping. It’s really the ultimate summer program for tweens.

“All the activities are really unique, and you can't do them at your middle school. They're different and fun.”

Cynde P
EXPLO Junior student

Go adventuring with new friends

Meet other clever and friendly kids from around the world who like to try new things and make new friends. Here, shared interests bring you together, no matter where you’re from. Kids who meet at EXPLO often remain close friends long after the summer ends—sometimes for life.

A community that loves (and makes) summer fun

EXPLO Junior instructors and staff are just as engaged and energetic as the students (we kind of have to be). EXPLO is more than a summer job. We love learning and discovery, and helping you make discoveries of your own, while keeping you safe and supported. Many instructors are EXPLO program alumni!

A one-of-a-kind setting for summer learning

Regis College, a 132-acre wooded campus just outside Boston, is a perfect home base to explore the world with new friends, both on-campus and off. There’s plenty of space to blow off steam, with tennis courts, a gym, a pool, playing fields, a track, and sweeping lawns. More fun and discovery await at museums, Red Sox games, and water parks just minutes away.

A home away from home for international students

If you’re coming to EXPLO from abroad, we have good news: almost one third of EXPLO Junior students are international. Here, you’ll meet other welcoming kids from the U.S. and around the world who like new experiences. At EXPLO’s summer program for middle schoolers, shared interests bring you together, no matter where you’re from.

Find a summer to remember at EXPLO

Tall socks. The Numa. The Element Chants. If you’re curious about what any of that means, you’re already perfect for EXPLO. There is no community quite like EXPLO Junior, and it’s open to any smart, sparky kid who loves discovery, exploration, and surprises.
