Find inspiration in your writing and explore your own voice in this elective, while also learning technique, craft, and how to approach your work through the writing process. Along with growing a writing mindset, practice the essential writer’s workshop skills of giving and receiving feedback on written work. Begin by generating new pieces through imaginative exercises and building a common language around complex character development, tension and plot, and engaging prose. Through creative prompts and examples, and using work from published authors and writers as inspiration, learn techniques to develop strong, compelling characters, develop internal and external conflict, and explore scene and exposition. Through writing workshops with your peers, gain in-depth practice in critique, critical thinking, analysis, and revision that will have you reading and thinking like a true writer.
