Improv

About this Elective

Campus: Wellesley College | Rising Grades: 10,11,12 | Program: EXPLO Pre-College

Improvisational acting is a form of live theater that combines games, scenes, and stories to create a compelling show for its audience. Experience the thrill of not only being the actor, but also the director and the writer of performances that are completely conceived in the moment based on prompts from the audience. This elective will cover the fundamentals, including active listening, agreement (yes, and!), and character work. Hone your comedic or dramatic chops, learn to think with your improv-group mind, and begin to develop your own style as a comedic performer. Students will perform a short comedy show at the conclusion of the elective.
