Wearable Tech: Coding + Design

Merge technology and innovation as you create a one-of-a-kind super suit.

About this Workshop

Campus: Regis College | Rising Grades: 6,7

Behind every superhero is their kryptonite. So, how can design be used as a tool for transformation? Join our Wearable Tech Team as we build products for our client, Dr. Electro Nic, that focus on accessible design. Start by creating your own superhero mask that conceals your identity. Dr. Electro Nic will have certain requirements for their super suit, and you and your team will have to work together to build something that’s up to the challenge! Will the suit light up, have a flowing cape, or play a jingle when they enter a room? What tools will they need to outsmart their nemesis? Apply elements of design and incorporate technology as you work to fabricate a super suit like no other.

Highlights

Incorporate LEDs, microcontrollers (like the Lilypad Arduino), batteries, sensors, or other tech into a wearable design.

Use the design thinking process to create a perfect product for your client.

Practice critical thinking and problem-solving skills as you determine the best materials and technology for your project.

Show off your super suit design during an end-of-the-session community showcase.
